History
Acapulco Gold made an incredibly official entry into our collective consciousness in the 1965 edition of the Oxford English Dictionary. The book is said to describe “a peculiar species of pot growing only in the vicinity of Acapulco… [which] has a potency only surpassed by the green varieties and usually comes in at slightly higher prices or in small weights. (^could be BS, taken from wiki.) From there, this Mexican wonder drug exploded into Western pop culture, inspiring the likes of David Crosby, John Lennon, Rush, Robert Plant, and more recently, MF Doom and Devin the Dude. It also earned a mention on SNL in 1975, and was used as the title of Edwin Corley’s book about the preparation of corporate America for legal marijuana.
